Just sold my 360.. what pedal to get?

So.. I just sold my xbox 360 because after 2 years of collecting dust I figured out that I simply don't play games

Figured i'd spend the money on guitarstuffs. Any recommendations in the $200-300 range?

I'm contemplating getting some analog modulation fx, already have a univibe, but i don't have a phaser, flanger or chorus.

Strymon blueSky. Even if you have your reverb bases covered, this will do so much more.

I find it too fake-sounding.. I use a full-length tube-driven spring reverb tank

Here's some that I like: (YMMV)

Strymon Orbit Flanger
Keeley Phaser
Digitech Hardwire Chorus or Chorus Factory (for the multi-voice chorus)

Too fake-sounding? Have you used one personally? I'm not trying to convince you to buy one, I'm just curious. I've never heard anyone say that.

Yeah a friend of mine bought one and let me play with it for a weekend
i've been using various spring reverb units for years and while the spring setting on the Blue Sky sounded good, it just sounded fake.

A real spring reverbs springs react differently and feeds back differently, whereas the blue sky had the spring "echo if you will" equal regardless of picking dynamics

It didn't sound bad, it was one of the best approximations i've heard. But if you've used a good full spring reverb for years prior to getting one of those you're not going to think that the strymon sounds the same

For some, the convenience of using it live (not having to worry about vibrations or noise) will outweigh the difference in sound
for me it didn't. But it doesn't sound as good as the real deal, it's one of the better approximations i've heard though..

I wasn't into the other modes at all, the plate mode sounded like a pure digital reverb rather than a plate (too even)
But the same rule applies, it might sound good enough for you to not want to lug a 1.5x2m EMT plate to gigs

Ha! I thought you meant a Rick 360. You could get a heap pf pedals for one of those, so why worry? Nevermind.
