short AC/DC clip with AXE

I play Malcolm in an AC/DC tribute band http://www.kcdcrocks.com

A friend of mine was asking about why I use an AXE FX instead of an old-school plexi with a 4x12. I told him that I felt I could approximate the tone with my AXE well enough and that its more portable, consistent, volume-friendly and flexible than a halfstack rig. Being a skeptic, I made him a clip and emailed it to him...thought I'd share it on a few forums too:

I'm a newbie when it comes to making recordings. There is no processing at all...just plugged my AXE out into my Apple via Duet going to Garage Band program then converted to mp3 thru itunes.

Its a simple patch on my AXE: amp > graphic EQ > cab > parametric EQ > filter > reverb

Normally I don't use reverb on my tone for Malcolm stuff, but I do for the intro of this song. BTW, my band tunes down a 1/2 step...which makes it sound a bit darker than the AC/DC version...but still, IMO, it approximates the tone.

thanks for the props.

I don't know how to share patches...shoot me a link that has instructions on how to do that.

I'm curious about sharing patches though since I've never done it...does the tone really translate accurately to others rigs? I ask because I think a big part of my tone is that I use a Malcolm Young Signature model Gretsch with a filtertron pickup and a Mogami Platinum cable to the AXE...then a braided, high-end XLR cable from Studio Supplies out from the AXE to my FBT...er well in this case to my apple imac. Anyway my point is that all that affects my tone signicantly...I just wonder how my patches would translate to someone else...somebody show me how and I guess we can find out the answer to that question.

BTW, I use an Ultra at version 7.04 will that affect the ability to load my patch to another persons AXE?

Well, considering the fact that Malcolm used Amplitube3 on a couple of tracks on 'Black Ice' I think you may be well permitted to use an Axe-Fx!

Great tone in that clip BTW...
