That was very cool. What struck me was how sterile and cramped it seemed. Seems like it would be sort of depressing being in there after a while - like being in a submarine. Hope they have some nice windows, 'cause I imagine the view would be quite the pick-me-up.

Incredible. It's amazing that this awesome technical accomplishment is whizzing overhead 24/7 and it's completely taken for granted by 99% of Americans.
With the cancellation of the Aurora program, it looks like the ISS is the only thing we space fans have to look forward to.
Maybe the Chinese will get thier moon missions going soon and we can all watch in envy as they surpass us in the space race :-(

I seriously doubt the likelihood of that EVER happening...

Boy! That's pretty amazing. It seems really cluttered up, but I suppose if you can just float over the clutter, who cares?

I suppose the body adjusts to being in any position without gravity, it seems weird that you can go from being right side up to upside down with no problems.

How do they generate oxygen?

How do they keep from being hit by space debris going 20,000 mph?

Weird!

Not what I thought it'd look like. I'll bet returning to earth and gravity would be a very odd sensation. Probably take weeks to readjust to it.

Cool, I thought a few would check this out.

If you want to see it go overhead sometime, here is a link for tracking the ISS
in your area. Just click on the state or country you are in and then city
you are closest to and it will give you times and direction of approach and departure.

The weightlessness has to be hard to adapt to! Taking a bath? Sleeping? Yeah man that thing was feeling claustrophobic to me just watching. Very cool video by the way.

This module has the largest window (20 in), optically perfect, and the largest such window ever produced for use in space.

We did a tour of Houston Space Center a few months ago and saw the full scale mockups that they use for training in the ISS and the Shuttle.

They're pretty small, especially considering the amount of time those folks spend in them.
