How good are original Celestion G12 65 from 70s

So i can get those and would like to know what do you guys think about them. I heard they are like old G12m s but with more bass and sound smoother and clearer.

definitely smoother on top. which is nice for high gain and leads. i quite like like them. good higher powered speaker. i have a quad from 79 and from 81. if you can find them cheap, id say pick them up.

Not really like a G12M, which is a 'Greenback'.

Probably a good comparison would be somewhere in the middle of a Vintage 30 and a G12T 75. No mid hump, smooth top end, a little better bass.

You have to consider what amp you are going to use along with the guitar.

Better for brighter amps/guitars that are looking to play predominately Lead, not chunk rhythm or detunings.

I've never played an original 65 but I love the et65's from wgs. I have two in my 4x12 mixed with v30's and it really brought the cab alive. I'm thinking of getting another cab with four et65's. They sound really warm and smooth. Both clean and distorted.

maybe just look for a cab with them in it. i picked up an 81 JCM800 cab for 375 w/ 65's. then sold the empty cab for 125 bucks. i don't see any loose quads out there for $250 bucks. just an idea.
