Zoom R16 + GB users
I'll try this question here. Should I be able to (fail so far) use the R16 as a real time audio input into my MBP with GB via USB, and have the 7 tracks I'm using show up as 7 tracks in GB? Isn't that what an audio interface does? So far, the best I can do is record on the R16 and then dump the finished files to the MBP, then open them in GB and process from there. Anyone? Thanks.
btw, when I do set the usb function on the Zoom to 'audio interface', my GB files play (as a stereo out) on the Zoom. Not really useful.... Corollary question - if I can't do that with GB, is there another recording program that will do that, or am I asking too much from inexpensive gear, ie, the R16? jon |

Have been using the R16 for a week, didn't have time to plug it into my MBP yet. But I think that GB allows only one track recording at a time. You can transfer all tracks on GB and keep them as independent tracks for the mix, but I don't think you can record 7 tracks in real time on it.
To record 7 isolated tracks I think you would need some other software, as Logic, or maybe the Cubase LE that comes with the R16. But I didn't try it, I'm recording with the R16 as a stand alone unit and then transfering the files to the computer for the edition. hope it helps.. |

Thanks, triviani. I could not get Cubase to install on my MBP, so I gave up with that. I'm considering Logic, but in the meantime, I'm doing what you're doing and just copying the files from the Zoom to the mac and opening them in GB.
