The "source" is an anonymous realtor.

Also, you can be assured that Lebron's house in Chicago won't be $3.5M. that's like penny candy to him.

Or just a nice place in a big city. As you said, he has a mansion in OH.

Assuming he is indeed going to leave Cleveland, LeBron might not want to drop a large wad on a place in Chicago, given the size of his investment in the King's Compound. I live about 2 blocks from his place and used to go by occasionally when walking the dog. Saw the whole process from start to finish. First, he bought the lot and existing 7000+ sq. ft. mansion as a teardown. The original house, which was stately and crammed with old time exquisite craftsmanship and rare woods, was demolished and replaced with a a new building of at least 10,000 sq. ft. I'm sure that he's probably got at least 10 mil tied up in the whole process. If he moved, and tried to sell, it would probably take years and might still go for a large loss, given how static the market is in the Akron area. The person who can afford to buy that place is not going to want to have poor working stiffs making a mere mid-6 figure salary as neighbors, walled compound or not.

Just like everyone was saying that Bill Cowher bought a house in shaker heights, Avon Lake, West Lake, etc, etc, when Cleveland was looking for a new coach for the Browns prior to hiring Mangina.

For what it is worth, being a Cleveland Sports fan my whole life... It would be nice to keep Lebron.. but part of me is thinking that his EGO has to go.

His comments as of late "Can't wait for July 1st", and comments like that make think that this guy might be the biggest attention whore in the world.
The way our season ended has put a sour taste in everyone's mouth, and frankly there are many people who wouldn't mind seeing him go.

However, a recent report concerning Danny Ferry's resigning as GM has me scared.

Danny was not happy with Lebron and his "associates" that were on the Cavs payroll and had to go with Lebron everywhere they went as a team.
Danny is not happy with what appears as Dan Gilbert's (owner) decision to be the Jerry Jones of NBA Owners... During the Paul Silas coaching era, Gilbert was known to send down notes concerning substitutions Gilbert wanted to see. When Ferry came on board, he convinced Gilber to let him do his Job. Now that Ferry is gone, it appears that Gilbert is going to move into a more active role... Probably in an attempt to keep Lebron and give him the Keys to the kingdom.

The Cavs give Lebron the best option IMO. He knows the city wants him, he knows the fans want him. The team will do what he wants. Now, if he leaves, than we know that his image and ego is what is most important. And if that is the case... Chicago can have him, but the shoes of Jordan he will never fill as Jordan IMO, has a ton more class than Lebron. Never do I ever recall Jordan making his contract the center piece of an NBA off season.

It's really a shame IMO.
