Summer NAMM Nashville

I have passes and I'm wondering how big it will be this year. I've heard that Fender is not showing and I don't see Mesa Boogie on the list either.
I heard that Guitar Night at the Wild Horse is honoring Brent Mason this year.
Anybody heard much else?

WOW. I guess last year was so bad they're desperate for any foot traffic.
You reach a point where as a company, you're basically paying to participate in trade shows as an act of charity, just to prop up the other vendors and the show itself. That's why Apple has pulled out of every trade show but their own.

Gibson, Fender, Mesa, etc. have to spend a TON of money on their booths to appear bigger and better than everyone else.. when the reality is all they need to do to generate interest in their new products is issue a press release on the minor stuff, and hold their own mini event for the people that matter on big launches.

By not participating, they decrease traffic to the shows, and make it even harder for indies to break into the market. They were literally paying to help stores carry competitive products.

From my perspective, I figured NAMM conceded that fact that there'd be half of Nashville crashing the party anyway and went ahead and made it official.
I've gone to NAMM 4x and never once had a pass in my name. Met up with half a dozen folk in the same position each time.

I went last year for the first time and was a little disappointed in the show. I was expecting something like what I saw in the Winter NAMM pictures, but it was a lot smaller than I expected. I'm going again this year to report on the new products and hopefully meet a bunch of people.

After last year, I'm surprised they're still doing it.

i look forward to reading accounts from NAMM's Sunday event ... i hope folks enjoy it ... but i fear they will be treated to a ghost town of vacated booths or folks packing up

wonder if they'll do it at winter NAMM too?

It's cool for a few hours, but, if you've been to one NAMM (or just about any trade show for that matter) you've kind of been to them all.....

Well its nothing like winter namm.. thats for sure. Winter Namm security is pretty tough, at least to get the badge.. I'm sure someone could hand the badge off once they were done with it.
