Reaper users - Midi Editing - noob question

Using Reaper and I've pretty much figured it out, with the built in MIDI editor for Addictive Drums usage, mainly. My question is, is there a way to snap a given midi note to the tempo? It's difficult and pointlessly time consuming to manually drag it to the correct spot, is there a way to edit the midi notes akin to, say, sheet music so the program automatically keeps it in time? Or do I need a third party MIDI editor and if so, which one is good (preferably freeware).

I'm very happy with Reapers built in editor except that this feature either doesn't exist or I haven't discovered where it is located

Look for the little magnet icon in the collection of icons. That's snap-to-grid.

Awesome, thanks! I just made a simple drumbeat and looped it, sounds superb.

Another question.... Is there a way to keep a note from ringing out, eg hit a crash symbol then immediately grab it to mute it (you know, like if I wanted to do "Eye of the Tiger" )? Plus, how can I change the tempo so that it's in swing time, rather than straight ahead 4 to the floor? Or do irregular groupings, like a triplet?
