early bill frisell compressor - which one?

i love the rubbery clean sound he gets on his early recordings and the stuff he did w/ power tools and bass desires. my guess would be a stock mxr dynacomp - but if anyone knows for sure - please let me know. thanks

here's the link to the archive page - consensus seems to be that it was a tc electronic parametric compressor/sustainer

The April '85 Guitar Player article says he was using a Boss compressor at the time, but no model is given.

He used the TC sustainer, I had both that and a Boss, the TC gets a lot closer.

TC Sustain/Parametric EQ......they used to hit $350-$400, but have fallen back down to around $150. GREAT unit.....

Don't forget the volume pedal and delay. I loved his tone when he was playing sg's.

he once spoke in an interview about how the comp and volume pedal cancelled eachother and that he would never again use compression. probably in GP.

..... due, in fact, to a single very specific "technique"
that can be applied (by user-choice) when playing the old TC Sus/ParEQ compressors.....
that "cancellation" isn't really a "rule", as it were.
