Let's talk Gibson semi-hollowbody (335, etc.)...
I've been a Les Paul player for most of my life and the other day, I take my Marshall plexi into Sam Ash to try out some different 4x12 cabs. I decided to try out a Gibson 335 and a Gibson 339, mostly out of curiosity. Man, what a killer sound! The 335 especially sounded good. Big, full, but with some nice chime and bite. Really got that Malcolm Young sound through the plexi and the 4x12. The 339 sounded good too, but not as "big".
I realized I've been missing out on this sound for all these years having mainly played Les Pauls. I know there are other "versions" than the 335, so I'm hoping to get an education from you cats who know semi-hollowbody guitars. Let's see 'em too! |

I hate to be the guy who says "do a search", but seriously there's a handful of new 335 threads every week, and they all have pics. ;-)
I know this because I'm a 335 guy, and I end up posting in all of them hahah... Edit: Here's a start: http://www.thegearpage.net/board/sea...rchid=21038702 |

I'm a long time Les Paul player and brand new 335 player. I won't say the 335 will ever take that special place in my heart that's reserved for my R8 Les Paul, but it is definitely a super kickass guitar!
Here's a pic I just took last night of my modest (by most TGP standards) stuff. ![]() I'll even give you a video or two! As you can tell, I don't use my 335 the way most people use it.

Cool, thanks for those links. I actually have tried the search feature, but the term "335" didn't work for me for some reason. Maybe there's a better way to search.
Also really dig the look of that red 335 dot! |
