80's RAT (power supply)

Pretty dumb question, but I recently picked up an '86 Rat like the "small box" one detailed here:

http://ratdistortion.com/history/#

This thing goes through 9 volts like they're going out of style. It's not a modern jack in the back to power this thing up... so what is out there that I can use? Will a Radio Shack "pick your sizing input" 9 volt work?

This thing sounds awesome, but every time I go to play it I need a new battery!

1spot has adapter ends designed for Rats and older E-H pedals, should be available pretty much everywhere, that's what I'd go for. LOVE my old small-box Rat!

Awesome, thanks a lot, Andy.

Yeah, KILLER sounding pedal that I want to put more use. Plan to play it out tomorrow night.

I can't even recall what the input looks like offhand, but is this the one you're referring to?:

Thanks again!

That would be the one.

Do NOT plug that in while hot. The beauty of the standard DC plug is that it's almost impossible to short out without trying. That mini plug shorts itself every time you plug it in so power down or unplug your supply and let it drain (watch the lights on your pedals fade out to be sure) before you plug into the Rat.

Whoah. This had never even crossed my mind, although thinking about the design of the plug/jack, it's really obvious... Live and learn! Thanks!

Usually, it doesn't cause any problems. Usually.
