Putting Duncan humbuckers in a strat
I got a set of Alnico Pro II humbuckers for a H/S/H setup in a strat. The pickups have four-conductor wiring, but I'm not planning to split the coils. I've used the Black wire as "hot" and the green and bare wires are connected to ground. I folded the red and white wires back and taped them off, but I didn't connect them to each other.
I'm not getting any sound out of either of the humbuckers. The switch and pots seem to be working properly, but there's zero audible output from either humbucker. I can think of two possible problems. Which do you think is most likely? 1. I need to replace my volume pot with a 500K pot, or 2. I need to solder the ends of the red and white wires together.

Red and white together and soldered, changing the value of the pot is not going to be the difference between sound and no sound.

By not connecting the red & white the coils are open. Here is the color code - see what we mean?

Cool thanks guys. That worked. Of course I wish I'd known the single coil was oot of phase with both humbuckers before I screwed it all back together.
Looks like I've got a couple of leads to swap before I'm done.
