What makes a GREAT amp?

So if you strip it down to the basics. Circut, Caps, Resistors, Tubes, Cabinets, Speakers...What really makes great amp? Is it the famous people that play them., or is the fan base of working musicians that support them.

Please discuss.......

As a TOOL,it accomplishes what the musician needs it for.Bonus points if it looks cool/smells great, etc. etc.

Whatever makes up a TrainWreck Express-the most incredible amp I've gotten to play through at this point. Thanks Mook!
