Question about LP junior DC's
does the top strap button go on the upper cut-away like a strat or at the back of the neck joint like an SG? Was one of these standard over the other? When? I see on the 2 that Gibson has for sale each is done differently.

I believe it was on the back of the body at the heel. I always hated that too. I would put it on the top horn if it was me.

The strap balances better with the strap button on the upper horn. Unfortunately it's rather ugly - makes the guitar look too much like a PRS
The button is intended to be on the back of the guitar near the neck joint. Any that you see on the horn have been moved there. Take your pick.... |

Amazingly there are a few examples out there where the body balanced perfectly when the button was in the original heel position. Not many though!

I moved mine to the upper horn because the straplocks were stabbing me in the belly, which is strange because my SG and 335 don't bother me.

I always moved em to the top horn. Too much belly button poking for my tastes with straplocks. And to echo cbpickin, my Trini Lopez (EES 335 body) & SGs don't bother me a bit.

I moved them on my SG's too. Although I hate SG's and don't own them anymore.
