Question How do you set up a wet/dry/loop rig?

I've been wanting to do this but am I confused in thinking that this is the same as a Stereo Rig?

Is there a difference?

As an example I've got a few Delay Pedals with the Wet/Dry outputs but to be honest I'm lost as to how to set this up?

Is it indeed just like setting up a Stereo Rig?

I've got a pair of Fender '57 Champ Reissues Amps as well as a 5E3 Tweed DLX & a very, very SWEET Swart AST.

As an example would I just run a cable from the Dry Signal Output on one of my Delays to one of the Fender Champs then run the 'Wet' Signal to the other Champ?

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

If you run a wet output to one amp and a dry output to another then, yes, it will be stereo in the sense that there are two separate signals which could be left and right. If your delay has separate L&R wet outputs as well as a dry output (mono or otherwise) then you could potentially run a dry amp in the middle of your L&R wet amps.

And, at the risk of sounding like a smartass (again!) I think you should experiment and try things out for yourself. It won't hurt and you might discover something that you can share here. Have fun!

I found that one wet and one dry really sounds great with the ability to blend the wet in and out using a volume pedal. Having the wet/dry/wet only improves things if you want the ability to have sounds bounce back and forth...ping pong delay or panning. Even my Hughes Ketner Rotosphere didn't really need the true left-right, it sounds great in the simple wet/dry config.
That's just my ear's opinion though...

I agree with the previous advice and say definitely just go experiment because tone is in the mind as much as it is in the fingers, what works for me won't work for everyone

No. Not a smartass comment in the least. I was a little concerned about frying something? Amp/Pedal or both?

I'm just a bedroom player though I love learning how to set things up to the best of their abilities.

I really appreciate the replies Burger666 & randombastage.

Smartass? Not in the least, very helpful & the kind of push I needed to just go for it. I've had some bad things happen when I've pushed my own knowledge instead of asking 1st.

I refinish guitars & there's been a great deal of sweat, blood & tears in most of my projects. But in the end the experience can be costly & I've learned to ask first rather than just "go for it" in some situations.

Thanks!
