pedal flipping?

Do you think people buy pedals to sell at a higher price. Considering what is sought after from day to day, seems risky.

Yeah, I think people do that with all pedals that have a waiting list, and with some vintage stuff too. Smart way of making money.

Agreed. I do this often. I also keep my eye on vintage stuff that people don't have a clue of how much it's worth. I scored a vintage 80ies original Electric Mistress for €85,- a few weeks ago and am having her fixed up and modded (noise reduction, true bypass, green LED, mix knob) so I can sell it to some Gilmour fan for €300,- or so .. lol (I'm actually serious).

I don't actively try to flip pedals, but I have flipped a few when I've seen a great deal. One of these days I'm going to pick up a DS-1 on the cheap, do a Keeley-style mod and see how much I can get for it.

I noticed alot of D*A*M, Skreddy, Strymon, skinpimp and mad professor not selling as fast as they once did in the past. I see people trying to skreddy stuff for 20-30% more than buying new direct. I have a limit of $200 dollars on any one pedal. the one exception was a skinpimp buzzaround. I sold it and netted alittle over $200. A fair loss for trying a pedal for a couple of months.

I've sold pedals for a profit
I've sold pedals for a loss (mostly ones I bought new)
I'm probably breaking even after 3 years of gear shuffling

i do it all the time, generally because the australian market for pedals and guitars is inflated like nothing else.

for example- http://www.allansmusic.com.au/prod/1...atocaster.aspx

pedals are really easy as its much easier to import pedals with shipping costs and still get a nice profit.

I've always bought pedals at full retail and sold for a horrific loss.

Was just telling someone earlier about the two (2) D*A*M Ram's Heads I sold for a couple of hundred each... Ugh.

You can always tell when a new batch of Analogman Bi-Comprossers are done for the "waiting list". They start turning up on eBay and the Emporium right away.

I think I've made money on two, sold most at cost or a slight loss, which is OK.

If I flip pedals and make money, it's only going to go right back into another piece of gear.

I can't remember ever selling something and feeling like I was losing money on it.
