Matchless Lightning: my best amp

Hi forumites. I've owned quite a few amps over the years, but this is the best by far. Clean crunchy tone. Expensive, but great sound. What do you think? Was it a good purchase? Thanks !!

Yeah it was a good purchase, it sounds great. Now I want one. How many watts is it and how loud can it get?

Hey, somebody who plays a tune!

I've always like the Lightnings more than it's big brother, the DC30. Less crap, and much lighter. Great cleans and crunch. The singing distortion at low volume guys will need a pedal, though.

I have a Lightning Reverb-it is a fantastic amp-the cleans are beautiful, its mildly overdriven tones are just made for single-coil guitars, and it gets a ridiculously fat od tone at the extreme.

It's been one of those "I'll never sell amps" for a long time, but I might part with it to pay off two Louis Electric amp purchases. Even needing to pay off the debts, I'm trying to find other ways so I can keep the Lightning. For a blues gig, and/or to do some fingerpicking like yours (great stuff, btw!), I don't think it can be beat!

Sounds killer! GREAT amps too. Something about that beautiful Matchless midrange crunchy thing.. Love it. Nice playing too! Very entertaining.

Makes me miss my Clubman.

I bought one from the emporium and just love it. I never thought I'd own/afford an amp this good, but used it wasn't that expensive compared to other boo-teeks. I haven't had any trouble with it. Takes pedals well. I pay a LP, Strat and Tele through it and they all sound great.

Nice playing. Love the tone. I have the 2x12 with reverb model. Only issue with them is IF you like crunch and can't stand volume you better have a pedal.

15 Watts. Loud enough to play anywhere, really. Thanks!

Actually you can get a lot of crunch at low volume with the right combination volume/master. And thanks for your comments!

Throw an old school Treble Boost in front, like a BSM unit and you are in heaven..

GREAT amps. I miss mine. A lot more HiFi sounding than my old Vox but super sparkly and one of the best amps ever with a Jazzmaster, IMO.
