60's Fender Jazz Bass?
I know these are MIM. Those that have one or have played one are they a good deal?
I have a chance to get a almost new one for pretty good price but it's across the country so I can't play it. Or is it worth it to shell out more than double for a used USA Jazz? Or how about he Highway 1 models? PS: this is not the Road Worn version I am talking about.

Better option is a MIJ or a used USA, IMHO.

My main bass is a MIJ '62 RI J from the early '90s. If you find one, check it out. They're pretty good, IMO.

I think the std MIM J Bass is pretty good, used you see them for 200.00-300.00.
The "road worn" has the same electronics as the MIM std (I'm pretty sure) so.... A used USA STD can often be had for about the same price as a road warn, much better Bass. For my money you either go with a MIM std and do some pickup / electronics up grads if you want or go for the USA.. |

The MIM standard is nothing like a sixties style Jazz. They look/play like a $2-300 bass. I ended up with a used RW, not because I dig the look, but because it delivered "sixties-style Jazz bass" better than anything else I could find. Mine came with upgraded electronics and it looks/plays/sounds better than anything else I tried for the $$$.
