Made sheet music for Slowdancing in a Burning Room TWO ROCK version

I always thought this clip by John Mayer was very cool (and the clip seems to be very popular), but there was no sheet music for what he's doing with his song here, so I decided to make it:

This is as close as I could get. The groove is always a bit stale in actual sheet music, so I encourage you to get the actual groove and feel from the clip.

Have fun!

Here's a PDF of the sheet music:

Here are the actual powertabs so you can listen to the rhythm:
http://www.familieassink.com/documen...oomtworock.ptb

And here is a link to the powertab editor if you don't have it. It's free (and spyware free):

Wow, nice job! I tried to figure this one out too a while ago. I think some small parts are a bit different, like the parts from 0:13 - 0:15 (start of bar5) and the part from 0:18 - 0:20 (halfway bar 6) and high note in bar 12, which I think is a Eb / '11' bend up to an E '12' with a very fast vibrato after the bend. But maybe I'm wrong, it's hard to tell. If I have some time left today I'll try to tab out the differences.

You're very welcome. I am quite sure this is mostly right. This song is in E major/C#minor and there's no Eb in there. Wouldn't make sense.
I do look forward to seeing your tabs, maybe learn something about the other parts.

I said an Eb bend up to an E. Picking a semitone below a note and bending that note up to a note that is within the scale makes perfectly sense by itself. You'll hear the E note[/I], but it's a different E than that you would get when you pick just the E / 12. The vibrato will be to the E note and a slightly flatter note, never the E note and a slightly sharper note which you would get if you just pick the 12 and make a vibrato there. Try it.

Here it is. I only made corrections to the tabs in your document using illustrator.

This is just unplugged right in front of my macbook, so excuse me for the low volume, but this is just to give an idea of where to put the fingers of both hands with the tabs.

I see what you mean. I took some liberties here and there to show you have to slap as well as play notes, so I've x-ed out some notes you don't need to play.

Also, I like the sound better when playing the E note on the 5th strings, as that as the full e-chord but you can do without. Won't make a huge difference.

Watching the video, I am still not sure whether he bends up from eb to e and then vibratoes or just picks the e on the 12th fret and adds a big vibrato to that.

I like your additions to bars 6 and 7

I agree. Maybe it's a bit easier to play without the E on the 5th.

I can't get it to sound right if I pick the E on the 12th fret. It lacks the 'velocity' that you get when you bend it first. I see other people on YouTube do it that way too. (with bend)

I suddenly had a clue when I looked at his right hand. I've never seen that technique before. I took some time to figure that one out.

Yes, but I have quite large hands, so...

I just watched some clips and see what you mean

See, that's what you get from working it out by ear. I converted the youtube clip to mp3 and put it on my ipod, then worked out this sheet music. I didn't look at the clip.

I see you have the same problem with the PDF printer app, the title is always too far to the right. Doesn't happen with XP, only with Vista and Win 7.
