IT guys- Got wierd Outlook 03 issue.

I have about 100 users and I've fixed a lot of strange issues before but this one is crazy.

XPsp3 Office/Outlook 2003
I'm changing the users signature file for them using advanced edit in Word.
Users name is in bold the rest is not. All looks fine in Word and in the little sig edit window in Outlook. I open a new message and the signature I created has reversed the bold letters. The name is now not bolded and the rest is bold. Everything else about the sig is the way it should be including the font. Messages are by default in HTML and use Word.
Things I've done:
Checked the default font settings for new and replys
Ditched the profile and created a new Outlook profile.
Verified all settings in Outlook options.
Searched Google.
Yelled WTF.

Short of remove & reinstall, anybody have any ideas?

Search the users machines for the file normal.dot. I can't remember where exactly it's located and there may even be multiple instances of the file. Rename to normal.old and launch Outlook.

That was it! Only one normal file but for some reason Bold was
on in it. I deleted it, opened Outlook and bingo.

You are the man.

I owe you

Disable using word as the editor for Outlook. Do everything you are trying to do and see if things are still screwed. If not, it's actually a Word issue, not Outlook.

-- Normal.dot is a Word file so the issue is (was) with Word. BTW I hate when people are using Word as the editor in O2K3 (causes all sorts of weird issue) and I believe that option has actually been deprecated into Outlook 2007 and 2010.

I find out soon. I'm putting 2010 on my work PC tomorrow.
