Roland Blues Cube 30 - Replacement Speaker?

My brother played a gig last weekend, and his speaker in his Roland BC-30 blew out. The amp was bought used and this was the first time he played the amp pretty loud. He only uses it for the clean channel and both the clean and master volume knobs were set around 12-1 o'clock, so I feel he wasn't even pushing the amp to the max.

I'm not the type to change or update anything on my gear, so replacing the speaker is completely new territory to me. It's a 12'' speaker, so any suggestions on what speaker to replace it with?

Rumor was it was modeled after a celestion greenback...all I know is that speaker absolutely kicked ass with the Roland Blues Cube. I ran a BC-30 and BC-60 into other cabinets with "better" speakers and honestly...there was something magical with the stock 1x12, Roland really got it right.

That being said...any high quality 12" by Eminence, Celestion, WGS, etc. will work. On the cheap a Jensen Mod.

Best of luck, really good solid state amp!

I currently have an Eminence Wizard in my BC-60 and thinks it sounds great. Hope it helps.

An Eminence GB12 would be good - like a stout Greenback w/ higher power handling. Very reasonable price...
