emergency help with string Buzz
I have a gig tomorrow and my open D and (a little less slightly) open G string started buzzing (this only started the last couple of days). The intonation was perfect and buzz free. Why the change? I put new strings on and it got worse. Is this a simple fix or a neck humidity issue or what? Argh....
Thanks for your help. Eric Johnson Strat with 10 gage strings. |

Open string buzz can be caused by the nut slot being cut too low, not enough relief, action too low or a combination of the above. If it's ONLY happening with the open strings and fine when fretted, the nut slot is probably too low.
Why the change? Guitars are made of wood and subject to changes due to temperature and humidity.

Took it to my local guitar tech (at Guitar Center no less) and he made a minor adjustment to the truss rod in the neck and changed strings and reset it up (only charged me for the strings). Works great again.
