What pickups for the creamy Billy Gibbons tone?
I am just about to receive my new ESP LTD EC-256 AHB, but I am already thinking about no PUPS. Looking for that creamy Billy Gibbons sounds, although perhaps a little less overdrive. I am looking for a PUP with a really dynamic range so I can really manipulate the tone nuances with the picking style and force. Looking for warm vintage tone. I play mainly blues/rock style. I have a Peavey Delta Blues and I am about to by a Mojo version of the Fender Tweed Champ (5 watt of class A power; 8" speaker).
The guitar is wired to coil split, if that is a consideration. So let's have at it! What do you guys recommend? Thanks for sharing! http://www.thegearpage.net/board/ima...es/biggrin.gif |

They are very pricey but Tom Holmes would be great. He use to wind pickups and built a guitar for Billy back in the day.

JS Moore (www.tonefordays.com) has a custom handwound set called Tres Hombres that goes for this tone exactly and his prices are phenomenal. Great winder.
