IPADs, anyone have one? Memory question.

How much memory should I get? It's mostly for travel. Email, surfing, some books, etc.

I went ahead and got the 64 with the 3G. Same reason. For travel. After putting my music, pics and a few tv shows on, I am glad I did. Only 20 gig left.

I was generously gifted at 32GB. It'll do just fine. I won't put all my music on it, and just ripped my first movie, the Black Crowes concert DVD. It checked in at just under 4GB, so maybe 2 or 3 movies per roadie for me. I also downloaded a bunch of great free books...Ulysses, Huck Finn, Great Expectations, the complete Shakespeare...several thousand pages and almost negligible memory space. I love this thing!

Thanks. I wasn't imagining putting any video on it but who knows?

Any idea if you can add memory to these if you start with 32?

Don't think so. Really, unless you are traveling for a long time, you can always refresh your music collection when you get home. The games aren't that large. If you aren't watching a lot of video, I'd not bother to get the largest amount of memory.

Do you have an iPhone? If so, you can keep a lot of your music there too, and save space on the iPad.

Thanks for the great input. No Iphone, I'm really not a cell phone guy. I've got a prepaid that I used about 5 hours per year...only for travel. I'm a neanderthal

Good decision. I've got about 2500 songs on mine, hundreds of photos, books galore, and about 2000 scientific journal articles (PDFs), that's not to mention all the apps, etc., and I still have around 15+ GB free.

On a side note, before the iPad I was the kind of guy who couldn't even read a one page news article online without printing it out. Now, I read everything on the iPad, and love it. It's really a great device for my uses.

Thanks for the info! I'm a paper kinda guy too....I've just overcame the "print everything out for serious reading" thing within the past few years.
