Did you just buy a Ferrari 430? Bummer...

You should've waited for this gem...

Enzo would be so proud...

I saw two of the new 458's last month riding my bicycle within 5 minutes of each other. One of them passed me @ 100 mph+, then parked it in the middle of the two lane twisty highway. I guess he was waiting for me to pass so he could pull over. I passed him on the left (figured there was a major blind spot), & reminded him the turn signals were on the steering wheel.
They both sounded unreal, screaming close to the redline.

Bummer. I have to make do with my 360.

Looks far better in person. In photos, I think it's ugly.

What impresses me about Ferrari is that each iteration of the mid-engined cars seem to be significant improvements over the previous version. They are faster, look better, and are (reportedly) easier to drive quickly.

As a kid, I was impressed by the 348, which was easily bettered by the 355. Then the 360 blew that away. And then the 430 raised the bar on the 360. And now the 458!

I contrast that with the Porsche 911 (my favorite sports car). Each iteration of the 911 is an improvement over the previous, but it seems more like they are distilling that model to find the ultimate 911. Ferrari, in contrast, seems to be all about wowing the car enthusiast with each leap and bound with their mid-engined cars.

^^^ Yes.
While I appreciate how the current 911 looks similar to the older ones, Ferrari has gone - mostly - the opposite, although the 360 and 430 are quite similar.

That huge jump in hp is amazing, and the way the 458 absolutely destroyed that 430 on the drag race was incredible.

I wonder if the 458 was the answer to the Z06?

I got a 'fly-by' from a black 458 last Thursday driving around for work. Agree it looks better in person, but I thought it was hot to begin with.

It really does sound like a burning bear. I'm still recovering from that.

last week a nice new 911 was in front of me and in front of Mr 911 was an old pickup truck going the speed limit of 35mph on a city residential st.

Of coarse Mr. 911 was tailgating the truck as I was showing up behind the 911. Next, the old truck exits to a side street & 911 goes for all its got.......sweet

but I start flashing my Hi-Lo head lights and the 911 hits brakes and heads down a side street........

The 993 was the last '911'.
I know I'm a grumpy old purist when it comes to certain things, but Porsches should only require water in the windshield washer reservoir.
