Alright, Who Here Will Admit to Using a POD?
Ah, the POD. The most vocal spooring gear to ever hit musician's forums. I've played with them and alwaays thought they were very cold. I don't

Wrong forum for this.
Used em twice live as emergency backups. Hated. Them. Hate. Hate. Hate.

I love them for late night recording and practicing.

For all the negative on them...
1) I know guys who use them, even live, sound great but will NOT let you know they are avid users. 2) I have used one on MANY occasions (often through my VINTAGE MARSHALL or PRINCETON) or for recording, and when queried, most people can't tell which is the classic amp and which is the "ugly" POD tone. 3) If you haven't tried GUITAR RIG 4 or LOGIC 9's Guitar Plug Ins you are MISSING OUT. You would be shocked how many major records are sporting these tones secretly. Yes, NOTHING BEATS a great guitar into a great amp (re: for me = my 73 LP into my 73 Marshall or 78 Princeton). BUT, when asked to put up many sounds, you would be shocked how good the POD can be. I have a real Variac which I have used on my Marshall through G12H30s and then mic'd with a 421 or 57. Guess what? The POD nails that exaclt profile pretty damn close, but in a matter of seconds with no extra gear, volume, iso-cabs, mic-ing, etc etc needed. Line 6 makes some cool gear!

There's a TGP'er who used one on a fairly well received instructional video. It sounded good to me.

Pod 2.0? i used one almost exclusively when other family members were sleeping. IMO they sound best thru headphones (practice). i have two. i'd like to sell one but this is the wrong forum for that too.

IME POD 1.0a was the most musical of the bunch. Something about that one where recording wise I thought it had that intangible something. I used to put all sorts of OD in front of it and get some really fun sounds.

I have owned the POD, the POD 2.0 (I upgraded), the XT (for a short while) and now the X3Live.
I think they are brilliant, and audiences can NOT tell the difference in my settings. Period. I will be upgrading to the new one very shortly! OH, I also love amps... ... but what does this have to do with Brett Favre? I thought this section was only for discussions about Brett Favre!

I do and amn't ashamed to say so. It's mostly an ease of use/setup issue for me. To be honest at this point improvements in my sound need to come from skill and practice before gear really matters at all. The wrong notes through the boutique rig of the day is going to sound bad.

I just saw Lee Ritenour live at the Blue Note. He used an XT Live.
