Angus Young Signature Pickup question
Hey I'm thinking about replacing the pickups in my SG Standard which has the C57 and C57+ right now.
I love that Angus AC/DC SG sound, and the Classic 57+ in the bridge just doesn't sound ballsy enough. I have the original 498t but I was wondering if the AY sig pickup really sounded much different than the 498t. To me the 498t isn't really that bad, a tad bright but sounds pretty good. All I need the bridge pickup for is rockin out so I don't want a classic vintage PAF sound. I'm fine with the 498t in there but I was wondering if it was worth the upgrade to get the AY sig pickup if I wanted a more AC/DC lead sound. Also I was thinking about dropping the C57+ from the bridge into the neck position (can you do that? are the c57 neck and c57 bridge interchangable like that?) |

Never heard the AY Sig but it has an Alnico V magnet rather than the Alnico II, which is what is in the 57 Classics, so it should give you more edge/grit/rockin' vibe. There is no designated neck or bridge 57 Classic. It's one pickup designed to be replicas of the first humbucker pickup in the 1950s. It's neck pole string spacing.

I have one and its a total trip. Its literally like they put Angus Late 70s tone in a box. Freaky!
Its got the attitude of the 490s and 500s but with a sweeter Alnico 5 Twang, its overwound so it hits your amp, it bites and sizzles and has a chewy mid signature like Angus. I went lower wind pups and I felt this thing sounded too Angus esp in the way they nailed his upper mid signature and smooth bottom. But when I wanted vintage Les Paul out of my LP I couldn't dial it back Great pup
