Was going for the Tweaker... then I tried Valvetrain.
So originally I wanted a small combo that was around the 15-18 watt mark. I came across the tweaker at one of the local shops here. The first time I tried it, I compared it to. Rebel 20 and another amp whose name escapes me at the moment. The Tweaker was my favorite.
Then. I went back and tried the Valvetrain Savannah next to it. That amp was magic. It had one sound plus the tremelo effect. The one sound it had... it did really well. I have a lot of great pedals already that cover all the plexi/jcm 800 territory + a good compressor. It struck me that I should go for an amp with a magic clean sound and use the pedals for the gain sounds. While the tweaker has some nice cleans... I couldn't get the one magic sound from the Valvetrain (also 2x the price). I'm also going to give the fender pro jr a try as well... and maybe a Carmen Gia. I also tried a Carr amp which was also stunning. Combine that with my extension cabs... and that would be killer too... though the Carr is $2600. How did I go from thinking about a $500 amp to a $2600 one??? Sean Meredith-Jones http://www.seanmeredithjones.com |

Tha Savanna should be a fabulous amp! I have the Trenton and I really like it! It is basically a Tweed Deluxe with SS rectifier, spring reverb and a good trem. I really wish I had purchased that one! I don't really use the tone stack of the Trenton or the effects loop. Let us know what you wind up with!
