Preamp Tubes for a Cheiftain???

Thinking about doing some preamp tube experimentation with my Cheiftain. I've figured out what I like for power (NOS Sylvania 6CA7 "big bottles" or JJE34L) but I'm undecided on preamp tubes. I like pristine, chimey cleans that morph into smooth sustain when I light it up. Just curious as to what some of you guys are using and why. Thanks!
