Yeah, I made plenty of that stuff, it's how I learned.
But there is only enough time to be good at one thing and I'd rather make guitars.

Pete I really just love that 6 inline headstock. Such a perfect fit!

Thanks Doug, as you well know the head the "third rail" of the guitar.
I can't claim it is an original idea, but then none of them are.
The trick is to make it yours.

I'm a fan of the inline headstock, but the others are awesome too!

One of my favorites and the best way to deal with giant bass heads:

That's nice, Pete! Have you given any thought to my tortoise challenge?

Jon, I have. Since all my surfaces are curved and sculpted I have virtually no flat surface where I can use actual tortoise material- except the top of a pick-up.
I can paint a tortoise-like faux finish, and could do an entire center plate that way... but I worry it might look kind of cheesy.
Need to try it to see for sure.

Thanks, my output lately has been hampered by regular life issues- like paperwork,
and also a batch of bad pup wire that has caused days of frustration.
Back on track soon, got a bunch of things lined up including #100.

I hear 'ya. Definitely don't want cheesy. I didn't want to influence your idea, so I left it open ended, but what I was thinking was incorporating the tortoise shell material as binding maybe around the plate? It's not a deal breaker, by any means.

Anywho, the main concept is still a red-speckled, Rodeo bass five string with 2 pickups and 19mm string spacing voiced deeply like the pups on your Moon bass. The rest I'll leave in your capable hands once I get the deposit squared away.
