Camera- Sony DSC1 10 meg deluxe point and shoot that has manual control ability... and a nice lens.
Tripod- absolutely, cheapest one possible.
Lamps- 3- 500 watt halogen work lights on rheostats to control reflected glare.

- Shoot on manual to control the exposure, auto doesn't always get the best exposure.
- Bracket the exposure, sometimes lighter is better, sometimes darker is better.
- Use the auto timer to shoot the exposure- no jiggle.
- 50 mm always if possible, no distortion or flattening of the image.
- Barn doors and a piece of silkscreen to diffuse and control the lamps, rheostats are essential.
- Use a photo program to format and clean up the image- not a whole lot of manipulation, just enough to sharpen and correct it. I use Photoshop Elements but the standard Windows 7 photo program works too.
- Practice, practice, practice.

Comet #109 is done and sounding good,
chunky neck, snarling 7k Type3 SC bridge pup and over-wound 9k Type2 SC on the neck.
Very fun to drive.

Here's the page with all the pix and particulars:

What a beauty! From the pics on your website I see that the closer I get, the better I like it. Are you considering a Comet Bass as well?

Thanks all, this one came out pretty nice, it plays and sounds great.
I should still have it at the NY Amp show.

About the bass- unlikely because the bridge on a bass sits all the way at the end of the body
and that won't jive with my center plate and basic design... among a couple other considerations.
Can't ignore that 3rd dimension.

Digging the Gemini Comet. I think it needs a red partner, maybe 1 dogear pickup only. Call it "Laika."
