Angry WoW, what a bummer!! .... last night I had to go to the ER Trama Center....

It's kind of like Guitar Center, only no guitars and absolutely NOTHING is on sale!

Remember the mountain bike crash last year that snapped my collerbone like a dry dusty twig in the middle of the Sahara desert?

Well! last night I crashed the same bike and landed on top of the handlebar, and the brake lever punched into my inner thigh I thought I broke my leg. It felt like it was being crushed!! Then it looked like it was being pinched between the handlebar and brake lever. I kept trying to pull my leg out from between there, and then realized that the brake lever was sticking in my leg .... I was kind of on top of the bike and couldn't get my leg unstuck, but finally did, and then the blood came.

Blood

Blood

Blood

I thought I was going to bleed to death right there.

Luckily I had my cell with me and dialed 911 ...

Just try and get an ambulance to find you on some dirt trail somewhere.

Anyway, I made it out to some opening where my neighbor was mowing his field with a tractor and he gave me a free tractor ride back to my house which was only 1/4 mile away. The ambulance ER d0ods took me to the hospital. On the way there, something fell off a shelf right onto my wound!

Thank you, that will be all. Anyone want to buy an excellent Trek 8500? Never been crashed, driven to church on Sundays only.

I have to wonder if riding a mountain bike with too small a frame would cause more crashes? 18" fits perfect, but a 16.5 gives me more distance from the top bar in case I get out of shape and have to stab my feet on the ground on a nasty uphill. I never crash on my larger frame bike.

Well, I don't know what is up w/ this bike but I've crashed it more than any other bike I've owned.

Maybe you should switch to one of these:

Really though, it might be time to consider a new--less dangerous exercise.

I wish you a speedy recovery--and no permanent damage.

If it would have tore the artery, that would have been it! I would have had to tear my pants off and hope I could wrap it around high enough to stop the blood. It's only about 5 inches from my crotch. I would have probably bit the big one.

Dang I am glad you are ok. That is a lot of blood and a very nice puncture wound.

This would win honorable mention in a bike rides gone bad thread. Really, I hope you heal up soon!

Wow, Tweed! That was a close one. If you'd have hit the artery, you'd have bled out right there.

I've gone over the handlebars a couple times it wasn't pretty.....but was almost killed in 91' when i was hit by a car while on my motorcycle, almost lost my lower right leg as well.

If you think my leg is bad you should have seen the bike.

On a positive note, you can buy some new jeans! Maybe some skinny jeans.
