Just picked up a SG '61 RI; looking for some history...
So I got this '61 RI off craigslist yesterday, fantastic guitar! The previous owner says it's from 1989. Any idea when these reissues started? I would think this has to be an early one. The finish is very dark (maybe from age?) and the owner says it has the "correct" neck heel, but who knows. Oh, I know the rules:





Note the BIG headstock (compared to be R8 Les Paul, anyway!):
