Could use some good thoughts for my little boy

My Orange cat, BB King of the Blues, woke us early, he was panting and his heart rate was fast and shallow, as was his breathing.

Our vet suspects congestive heart failure or blood clots in the lungs, both of which are very bad in a 13-year-old cat.

This is the last orange cat I have, and BB has been there for a lot of major moments in my life. He got me through my second divorce, he was there when I discovered Lee Roy Parnell for the first time. He's always been the most loving, empathetic cat you could imagine. Whenever I had Meniere's attacks and I was in bed, waiting for the next round of vomiting to commence, B would snuggle into me and put a paw on me and purr. He always knew just what to do.

If we lose him, we'll wait a week and go get another orange cat. I've had orange cats since 1982, and I have no intention of going long without one. Orange cats are beautiful, wonderful creatures and even though it almost kills me every time i lose a cat, this one will be particularly devastating.

I love you BB, with all my heart.

It's hard when your good buddy becomes seriously ill. My thoughts are with you Pete.

I like animals more than I like most people so I feel your pain. My little guy is in my lap right now as I type this.

Aww, Pete. Not again. Man I know how you feel about these little guys.

Remember all we can do is love them and take care of them, knowing all the while we will probably outlive them.

I am sorry you have to go through this yet again.

Oh, it's not done yet. We have a 15-year-old who's acting his age. Assuming the news on B is bad, we'll wait a week and then go find an orange kitten who needs a home.

Sorry, Pete. I know. I really know. My little guy (Bug, my Havana Brown) is still asleep on 'our' pillow, keeping it warm.

We had an orange long hair until a few years ago named Fuzzy Tail. He was an indoor/outdoor guy, having been a stray we took in. Great cat that the kids and our other cats loved. It was a sad day when he moved on....

If it weren't for my two cats helping me through my recent divorce I'd surely be dead now. I can't imagine losing them.

You have my wishes and the closest thing to a prayer I can muster.

Oh good. After losing 3 of our 4 little dogs (2 in the last year) we now have Chloe at 9 months, and Romeo who just turned 12. He's the last of our original crew.

All my best wishes for B & you!
