Hey guys ... general question which I thought may be best to place into this forum. I'm highly interested in trading gear with folks on TGP but me being a newbie here I was curious as to how a typical trade transaction works between fellow members. I know every transaction is somewhat unique but I just meant more in general terms ... say if I was going to trade my guitar for someone else's guitar? How do you guys typically go about it?

Smart man. You should NEVER let vBulletin threads get too many posts in them as it will completely bring your board to a screetching halt when people try to open/run searches against it. Learning my lesson with our HUGE thread of 418k posts in it over on our vBulletin boards. Oooofaaa.

Perfect timing... I was cruising the forum last week and came across a guitar that I was interested in trading for and sent the user (kfiggy) a pm on Thursday. He looked at what I had and agreed to the trade. We exchanged information and we each shipped the guitars on Friday and received them on Monday.

Good communication and good pictures are essential, so that everyone knows what they are getting. I think we both felt comfortable and went for the deal, I didn't have any doubts at all. Keith was great to work with and would recommend him highly.

So do you guys normally exchange phone numbers/talk on the phone prior? Contacting of any "good deal" referrals?

I've done that in the past but for whatever reason this time all it took was an exchange of emails and I felt comfortable enough to send it without hesitation. Apparently he did too...

Every situation is different, but except for one bad egg, I've had nothing but great transactions buying, selling or trading.
