Vehicle Tag Renewal Costs, WTF!

I live in Maryland. I just had to pay $128.00 for tag renewal on a Honda Civic. Mind you I'm not getting a new tag, just a new registration card/sticker. How in the world can this cost $128.00?

Not to worry, I have a money tree in my back yard just like everyone else. Does this seem high or what!

This last year...

Work truck - $565
Car - $280
Motorcycle - $195

Add the price of a $80 smog check on my car.

Welcome to California.

Wow! I feel a little better now. When are you guys gonna take advantage of the "cash crop" and get some relief out there?

Yeah I just paid $150 to renew my 1994 Honda!!!!
Things are getting out of hand and here in NY the powers that be are so uncaring about the public it will soon lead to a total revolt and it will really be a problem. I'm joining the Tea Party today!!!

November if it passes, but I suspect like everything else the politicians will rob those coffers for their special interests. The only change will be higher vehicle registration fees to pay for marijuana therapy research.

Here we pay registration AND ad valorem tax. And no car ever reaches a point where there is no ad valorem tax based on THEIR valuation.

Are you aware that it's good for two years? Of all the ways we get raped in this state I don't think that one's too bad.

Is Maryland one of the few states without a huge budget deficit?

Ours is $99.00 (Renew Sticker) if we buy it at the DMV, anyplace else there is additional Fee.
Buy online and it is an automatic $2.25 extra just for using a credit card.

The thing that bugs me about the whole thing is replacement fee's are very very low

Vehicle Sticker/Plate/Registration ID Card Replacement

Replacement sticker $20
Replacement plate (1 plate) $6
Replacement plates (2 plates) $9
Replacement plate (1 plate) with sticker $26
Replacement plates (2 plates) with sticker $29
Replacement Registration ID Card $3

So If a sticker is $20.00 +2 plates@ $9.00 + ID card @ $3.00 = $32.00

WTF

And this year they sneaked in a $35 fee for "support wildlife" tag which already costs an extra $10, which went to wildlife management. The $35 just goes to non-specific boondoggles.

Dillow4092 are they still charging sales tax in Maryland to register a car from out of state? I have a friend that will be moving to Maryland for 2 years and asked me what she should expect. I told her keep her GA. tags as long as you can. It used to really piss people off when they moved into Md. and found out they had to pay sales tax, again, just to register their car in Md. I haven't lived there for 30 years and I'm wondering if that is still the case.

Best $2.25 you will ever spend. Last time I went, the lady next to me started asking me about "double moons" while we were waiting.

As far as the thread is concerned, I think I paid around $60 for one year on a 90s accord.

You got to be FREAKING kidding me!

I was ticked that my truck (that I only use about 3 times a year) cost $65 for tags
