extention speaker

If I run a speaker cord from the extention speaker jack of a early 70's Fender Princeton into a 4x10 cab, could I just unplug the one speaker from the amp itself. It kinda flubbs a bit?

Do you know what ohm rating the cab has?

I run an 8-ohm Avatar 2x12 extension cab with my 1976 Princeton Reverb all the time. As it is not run at volume (at least not for any length of time), I usually keep the amp spkr plugged into the main jack, and the extension cab connected to the ext spkr jack.
If using just the extension cab, plug the cab into the main spkr jack, not the extension spkr jack,

It's an 8-ohm cab with celestion 65 watt speakers. I want to bypass the main speaker and it didn't occur to me to just plug into the main. Thanks for the info.

I plugged into the extension speaker of my Super Reverb but I wanted the combo of 8 10's for that. This little Priceton was just sitting there and I thought why not plug into the cabinet just to see. The one speaker in the amp just flubbed a bit where the cab was just right. Probably didn't help shoving a bunch of pedals too but that's gonna happen reguardless. I'll try the main speaker route and see how that works out.

Well I ran from the main to the cabinet and felt a lot better about the overall sound and feel I was getting. Then power started dropping and the wah sounded like the breaking of glass...I hear that enbough at work. After checking cables bateries and such I finally decided that the power tubes were probably used up. I hated to take old JAN RCA 6V6's out only to swap in JJ6V6's. Long story short... I ended up unplugging the cabinet, and running the main Jensen with volume at 10!!! for about 30 min with no speaker flub. Side note though...JJ6V6's to me have more of a 6L6 quality than older brands of 6V6 maybe a little clearer headroom.

I've had good luck w/ Tung Sol Reissue 6V6s. I replaced the RCA 6V6s in my '76 princeton reverb, and they sound great.
