The Big List of Guitar Cab Makers
In response to custom and other cab questions, I've often posted a list of custom guitar speaker cab makers. I've finished my research today, and added a large number of new listings, and I'd rather just get a comprehensive list completed and archived to make it easier for everyone to update and refer to it (along the lines of the recent comprehensive amp builder lists). Over time, I'll be adding a brief line for each cab maker that describes any specialties, etc.
Here's the list I have so far, please feel free to post any other guitar cab builders, and I'll update the list. Also, I've listed some amp builders who appear to make very popular or unusual stock cabs. Feel free to post any others you know of (and I will definitely add any amp/cab builder who would like to be listed - just PM or email me). But I'd like to avoid simply duplicating every amp builder on the other thread listings (many who obviously offer their own cabs), hope that makes sense. Thanks! td I'm listing the cabs in the following posts: Custom - pure custom cab builders who will build whatever you can dream up [8/11/05 NOTE - I've also started a new section as a service to amp builders]: Wholesale Cabs - a section for cab manufacturers that specialize in the production of cabs for amp manufacturers in quantity, and have production capacity sufficient to meet the needs of that market. Stock - cab builders who offer their own designs only International - for our international members, a resource of cab builders across the world NOTE: See the Big List of Road/Flight Cases, Amp/Cab Covers and Guitar Cases/Covers/Bags/Jackets here: http://www.thegearpage.net/board/sho...threadid=79697

Also, a big name in France:
NOS these guys do really excellent cabs. I tried a pair of NOS 2x12" w/V30s with a CAE 3+SE and a VHT power amp, and it was extremely impressive.

Maybe something like this should go in a whole new "FAQ" section
list of Amp makers, Cab makers, Guitar makers etc. .. (could start a whole new monstrous section ... )

I have another possible entry for you. A guy named JD Newell who (as far as I know) doesn't currently have a web page but who often has/had cabs on ebay. AFAIK he only does Fender style cabs. Things like cabs for vibro-clones. He's very reasonable price wise. The only contact info I have is this email address: JDNEWELL@ALLVANTAGE.COM
He made me a nice combo cab for a bandmaster reverb chasis with a 12 & 10 baffle. He's a stickler for tight tolerances, no slop. In fact it took a little wrangling to ease the front panel between the baffle and the top but like I said its pro work, and good tolexing too. And packed like it was going to Nepal or something Search the fender forum for JDNewell and you'll get some hits none of which have anything bad to say about him. One of the posts there had this from an (old?) web site of his: "CABINETS ARE CONSTRUCTED FROM FINGER JOINTED PINE BOXES WITH 3/4" BIRCH 10 PLY PLYWOOD BAFFLES AND 1/4" PLYWOOD BACK PANELS. EXTENSION CABINETS HAVE 1/2" BIRCH PLYWOOD BACK PANELS & SPEAKER JACK. ALL PRICES INCLUDE BACK PANELS, HANDLE, AND CHROME CORNERS." |
