11 rack updates? when?

I read somewhere that a s/w update is forthcoming, but I don't know the source or remember when it's expected. I'm thinking of picking one up but am on the fence until Digi demostrates that they will add some amp models and basically show that they're gonna support this box.

i think they have already said when/if they eventually do add extra amps and fx it wont be for free. honestly i think if it doesn't have the features you want or need buy something else. it is what it is like it or not.

They had a software update a month ago or so. However ,they've generally stated that those types of updates will only cover bug fixes and other "issues" and that updates considered to be "upgrades" (amp models etc) will most likely be fee based per "upgrade". IE , not free.

FWIW.

I read that there will likely be a amp/fx update early in the new year.

Yes it likely will cost money but so will L6's HD amp packs.

I'm happy to pay if it lifts the 11R even higher.

Well, OK then... I suppose for <1/2 the price of an Axe that's a reasonable prospect.

Yeah, it seems like either way you either pay it all up front or they get you afterwards on some of this stuff.

Does 11R do impulse responses like Redwirez? I don't reamember checking into that aspect when I was shopping around.

While the cabinet simulations are convolution based, there is no way to import 3rd party IRs. That is certainly an upgrade I am holding my breath for-and would be happy to pay for.
