The Harry Joyce and Hiwatt sound

Decided to post a few sound files showing the sound difference between them, since we're on a extended break here at the studio.
Anyway, one Harry Joyce CST-50 is serial # 07, built by the man himself, covered with the army green cordura(?) material and it's stock. The second HJ is a CST-50 serial # 23, black tolex, also built by HJ, and later upgraded to later specs by G. Scholz. The Hiwatt is a stock 71 DR504.
Gain on all three amps was Normal on 10 and Brilliant 0n 8.
Guitar used was a Zemaitis Terzetto, plugged direct. No effects, boost reverb, or delay.
Three sound files with each amp, as simple as it can get, trying to show their sound difference as good as possible. They are named test 1 through 9.
And before you ask me, the one I like the best it's the three of them together.

I'll post the amp order in a day or so.

Thanks for posting this! Beautiful amps. Having the oppertunity to really open them up must be a freakin' blast! Man, I could get lost in there.

3-6 and 9 were my favourites, for what it's worth. More warmth and clarity, singing harmonics - just a sweet rock'n'roll crunch!

Any chance of a quicky demo of those ginger beauties too?! Perleeeze!!

Cool clips!

While I should say I was listening with crappy laptop speakers at work, I liked amp "#2" (samples 2, 5, 8) the most as it seemed the thickest). Amp "#1" (samples 1, 4, 7) was also nice; a bit brighter. Amp "#3" (samples 3, 6, 9) I liked the least as it seemed the thinnest and most anemic of the three. But again, I was listening through crappy speakers at work.

Good Day,

1 & 4 were the best IMHO, they reminded me of the old Rod Stewart Gasoline Alley days, and The Stones

I liked the clarity.

Cheers

They all sound good to me. But I'm going with 6 as my favourite - at least through my computer speakers. Thanks

Thank you all.
I've been trying to get a few sound files of these three amps for a while, but the lack of time kept me from doing it for a long time.
The amps are:
test 1, 4 & 7 = HJ CST-50 #7 (early stock circuit, more mids and more aggressive)
test 2, 5 & 8 = HJ CST-50 #23(early model updated to HJ + George Scholz latest specs, with more low-mids, less highs, a bit less agressive )
test 3, 6 & 9 = 71 DR504 (stock circuit, cleaner sounding, super well balanced, touch sensitivity with this amp is just unreal)
On files 7 and 8 the guitar volume is kept at around 8 to reduce gain. On file 9 the guitar volume is all the way up.
All amps had the master volume at around 2:00.

which speakers did you use - and which tubes?

Roe,
it's a 2x12 Laney cab with a pair of mid 70's 50w cast frame spks.
Tubes are chinese 12AX7s(no label) and Groove Tubes Mulard EL34s, on all three amps.
Any chance of a quicky demo of those ginger beauties too?! Perleeeze!!
MadFrank
That's gonna be my next project. Hopefully, sooner than later.

Are you Rich Robinson?

Voojo,
Nope... but I really wish I could write songs as good as he does.

Cheers!
