Refretting

Hello everyone,

I just wanted some input from anyone who was willing to provide it.recently, I bought a 7 string ibanez s7320 but there's some problems with it. The action isn't low enough for my liking and when I try to lower it certain adjacent frets wind up playing the same notes. I've tried adjusting the neck as well as changing string gauges and heights. It seems like I may need to have the guitar refretted. I was thinking of buying really big frets so could have super low action on my guitar. It's an absolute must for me. Anyway, I just wanted to get some opinions on the matter. Also, if anyone can tell me how much a regretting goes for nowadays. Any help would be appreciated.

Big frets has nothing to do with low action. Have your guitar professionally set up so that the relief, action, and intonation are the best they can be. The nut slots can also be lowered so long as the person doing it knows what they were doing.

besides, most new ibanez electrics already have gigantic frets. at most, the existing frets may need to be leveled to get them perfectly even with each other.

just take it in for a proper set-up first, that's probably all it needs.

Bob and Walter, as usual, give good advice. It's also possible, hell, it's likely that you need the frets leveled and crowned, THEN set up.

Probably cost you $100 -$130 total, and it'll be well worth it.

Hope this helps, Dana PO.

Ditto to what everyone else has said. I would add that since you mentioned getting the same note off 2 frets your fret might be springing up and need to be glued or sometimes you can even tap back with a hammer.

As far as a regretting goes,,,it's free but dangerous. All you have to do is look at the girl in the bikini. The wife swings and does not miss
