What to buy?
Roland JC120 for $500 or '67 Princeton Reverb in excellent shape for $1500 or more?
I've had my eye in the PR as a usable amp for some time now, probably suits my needs better as a practice/small gigs amp. OTOH, $500 for the jc120, just to have, is really tempting. Thoughts? |

Welcome to TGP. I love my Silverface Princeton Reverb. Is the '67 you're considering Blackface or Silverface? I believe '67 was the transition year, and I'm guessing from the price, it must be a Blackface, and I'd also assume it's in VERY good, all-original shape at that price. Basically,if it's a Silverface and/or not in extremely nice shape, all-original, and in perfect working order, $1500 or more is too much; otherwise, that's a fair price. BUT consider this - the Princeton Reverbs weren't changed much from Black to Silverface, other than cosmetically, so you might be better off checking into the Silvers, which will run you around half of their Blackface counterparts. Good luck, and let us know what you decide to do.
