Blackstar Stage 60 speaker changeout
I'm considering changing the speakers in my Blackstar Stage 60 which has Celestion 70-80's to Celestion 25 watt Greenbacks. I'm looking for the elusive "brown sound". The 70-80's have higher power handling- that I know. The amp has 60 watts and the Greenbacks would handle 50 watts together. So there is the "too much power" issue. On the other hand, the EVH 5150 III has (4) 20 watt speakers with a 100 watt amp which is also a "too much power" issue. Is there something I'm not aware of? My personal voltage-wattage-amperage-ohm electrical calculating ability has never been very good. Would this changeout work without too much grief?

It depends on how hard you push your amp, and how much you like to hear your speakers distort.
Also, realize that your 60w amp can easily put out peaks of 120-140w. That's a lot for your speakers. |

Greenbacks might work well in your amp,if not pushed too hard.Btw,I wonder how a pair of Celestion G12-65 Heritage speakers would sound in your Stage 60.
