Fuchs....no worky?

I've got a modded Fender super bassman Fuchs ODS 100 and I was playing it at practice about a week ago and all of the sudden....it dropped in volume and the notes all sounded very fizzy. I can see that every time I strum on my guitar the tubes glow a much fiercer blue and instantly go back to normal when idle.

My question is...is this a tube issue or should I start somewhere else? I'd hate to replace the tubes if I don't need to....I don't think they have much time but I could be wrong.

Impossible to say really, but tube amps does new fresh tunes now and then, that's how they roll...

You should hope and pray that it's 'only' a tube...

I like to keep extra power and preamp tubes on hand at all times. When something goes wrong that's the first thing you check. Take the known good tube and go through each position till you find the problem.

IMO you really should have a backup set of tubes if you own and use a tube amp. Quick to check to see if thats the culprit. Second, call Andy.

Probably a tube, if not don't sweat it, Andy Fuchs is over the top when it comes to customer service.

I'd check the speaker cable for starters or the cabinet....other cables possibly. Sure, could be a bum tube. Let me know how we can help.

I would have a spare set of tubes on me but I typically play el84 amps...so I've got to get some tubes ordered I guess. I did check the cable and ran it through and external cab and speakers so I know it's not that. Let's hope it's the tubes!

Could be bias, tubes, cables. 99 percent of the time when an amp is shipped there aren't any problems but who knows right. It's getting tossed around a bunch. I've gotten amps where a tube had shattered, another time a octal key broke and was just rattling around, another time the bias was just bizarre. Happens.

Andy's great and will solve every problem. Ooh speaking of which I gotta email him.

eliminate everything from the chain. pedal etc. plug straight into the amp. check that all cables are good. tubes next. start with the power tubes. new tues are a realtively inexpensive fix. next pre amps. then...call Andy, I highly doubt that anything internal would malfunction. Andy builds quality.
