After thinking about it for a few days I have decided to order one of these. It is a Walnut 2x12 cabinet for my Blues Jr. It will also come from Sultone Amps www.sultone.com
Speakers for this will be 2 16ohm 30 watt Scumbacks from Jim Seavall at Scumbag Amps www.scumbagamps.com

Hey Brian,

I have a set of Greenbacks for the Marshall. The 30 watt Scumbacks are for the Blues Jr.
Although the 30 watt Scumbacks sound pretty good with the Marshall too.

I'm sending Weber this 10" speaker as the next recreation. It's almost as fat sounding as a 12" speaker, too. Check the magnet size out on this bad boy. It's a really stout speaker with some pretty decent low end, and some fair chime, despite it's large magnet and higher db output.

Well, this 10" model is the best I've heard...period. It's an old Pulsonic cone ending in 002. It's got alot of bottom, but not overly bottom heavy like a Vintage 10 (now discontinued). It's real strength is the well defined mids, and clear and chimey highs, but without the brittle ice pick tone.

I've had a few 10 inch speakers, and this one is the closest to a 12" G12M/H I've ever heard. Of course, it too is long discontinued (the one in the picture is a Celestion factory recone kit, done some time ago). The one pictured is a 1970 model, and it kicks serious booty.

I'm waiting on Weber to finish the 12" Medium weight magnet models I have asked him to recreate (showing up any day now for testing) and then this will probably be the last speaker I'll have him recreate for me, as I think the product line I have going now is pretty well defined, and I don't need any more models that aren't handled better by other speaker companies.

I think Ted said he has a pretty good idea on this one already, but, as per our usual routine, I will send him one to test, recreate and to use as a "target" tone to shoot for in the one he makes for Scumbag.

In any case, it will be a few months. These two cost me around $110 each off of eBay, and they're two of four I've seen surfing eBay for six years. That makes them much rarer than Pre Rola G12M/H's, too.

But they're a total knockout of a speaker.

I was over at Chet's tonight and brought my PRS CU22. We ran his Modded Marshall and the Blues Jr into a Marshall Closed back 1922 cab with the Scumback H's.

All I can say is WOW!!!! I'm a dyed in the wool Greenback man, but that might have Changed. I was floored. The blues Jr sounded like GOD through those, and the Marshall had the thick syrupy Beano tone in spades. I've played both of these amps (well not this particular Fender) stock and through other speakers, and I can tell you, Scumback's are no joke. They absolutely are amazing!

Good show Jim. You can be sure I'll bug you as soon as I can come up with some cash...and off a few things.

Alec dropped the blues part for me. People tend to dismiss your thoughts on things if they think blues is your only focus (and as you know, that's not my only focus).

It was a gas. Can't wait to see Chet's new Sultone cabs too. But even through that small marshall 2x12....WHOA! Going to have to have one....or 4.......
