Barber Tone Press...Is it Worth Using?

Hello: I'm looking for input from "gigging" classic rock guitarist please...I'm thinking about using the Barber Tone Press. Do you think the Tone Press is truly a useful tool?

thanks

Well, if you have a wimpy amp with no sustain then yes. I used mine for thickening/sustaining with my Lonestar and finally realized, it don't need either. So, I just use it for mondo sustain like at the end of a song, you know that last chord sustaining with feedback while the drummer brings it home. The other use I can think of would be squash chords, ie; Police, Rush, Dream Theater, etc.

if you want a flanger, chorus, or univibe than no the tone press sucks ass...
But if you want a great versatile compressor than its a great pedal

It does parallel compression better than any of the competing products I've tried. Sort of an amazing trick, your attack stays unaffected but you get the benefits of sustain and "fattening" (evens out your string response) from compression. No pop-in, but all the good stuff. If that's something you're after, it's the best at it, in my opinion.

It also has a very fat boost function, I had one for a while and liked it, then sold it for some reason and get along fine without it but I do remember the boost seemed better than most....and kind of miss that.

Flyin Brian: Do you gig? And, what would you say you would be missing if you turned it off on clean and overdrive sounds?
