Any George Lynch fans? Gear talk?

Any guys follow Lynch?

I am a huge fan and really dig the most recent Lynch Mob CD. He has one of my ideal phaser infused lead tones. Anyone know if he mainly uses an old 1974 MXR for phasing?

Any other ideas about his tone? Is he mostly using Plexi's these days?

What about his dirt pedals? I know he was messing with the Cusack Screamer and T-REX MAB dirt pedal.

Any thoughts on these and if he still uses them?

Thanks.

he's one of my favorites from the 80's. his work with dokken and lynch mob is outstanding. i've always thought he had a very unique identifiable sound & style.
the clips i've heard from the latest lynch mob sounded good. i was worried because some of the footage i'd seen over the past few years was just him wailing away with no direction or melody.
as for gear, there's no telling if he's using a marshall, randall, soldano, or something else. it's whatever he feels like playing through that day.

I took a chance on getting this cd, and was glad I did. I really dig Time Keepers prolly the most. I had a chance that I balked on to see him a couple months ago. Wish I woulda went. No idea what his current phaser is. Dig it though!

He's got a signature Randall RM100 called the Lynchbox with a Mr. Scary signature module and a couple of signature ESP/LTD guitars (tiger & serpent).

Whether he uses these all the time, I haven't the first idea.

Only at clinics.

He still uses his mainstay 100 watt plexi through his old fane loaded cab at deafening levels for the most part. As much as i admire alot of his work, he seems to have the same attitude as Zakk Wylde when it comes to endorsements. I know you have to earn money to eat, but endorsement whoredom makes me lose respect...

Well to get a Plexi to sound good, you gotta crank it. I am shocked those Fane speakers are still any good. That old, I would think they sound like a wet rag.

A friend of mine plays the local clubs with the same Plexi head, but keeps it at a whisper volume and runs a distortion pedal into it. I tried that but am not a big fan of distortion from a pedal as my main tone. I know George does it differently, cranking it and adding a tube screamer.

Love Lynch to death and his playing was 2nd to none in the 80's. With that being said, I believe he has lost something along the way. I've seen videos of his playing in the past 10-15 years and it's not the same. Just my opinion.

I think George sounds fantastic on the Lynch Mob CDs, especially the second one and this new one!

I e-mailed/ phone chatted with a friend of George's probably a decade ago, he wanted to trade the proto 100B for an amp I still have (and will never trade or sell), but this was some info he passed on to me...

Are you familiar with George Lynch?
I have his Soldano SLO100 he used to record the Wicked Sensation LP, his
proto Bogner 100B he used on Dysfunctional and Sacred Grove as well as
several LP’s and a famous 1969 50 watt, he used on “Back for the attack” and
Beast from the East , etc. This 50 watter was one of his Favorites for a long
while and was modded by Frank Levi. I am not sure what the mod was , no
master volume or anything like that, just absolutely kicks ass. I’m a friend
of his and have quite a few priceless things from him. regards, ******

Under Lock & Key...Marshall – ’72 100w
Back for the attack...Marshall – ’69 50w
Wicked Sensation...Soldano/Marshall
Dysfunctional...Bogner proto 100b / ‘69 50w
Sacred Groove...Bogner proto 100b

I know that George just gets tired of these amps and likes to try new things.

i think the whole grunge thing shocked a lot of the 80's guitar heros. i don't believe they saw that coming. with the release of teen spirit, and it's far reaching culture changing effects, these players for the most part were stopped cold in their tracks. i am a huge 80's guitar god fan myself. i am also a grunge fan. some of those bands were devistatingly good. you could feel the change at the time. those 80's players were technicians. the grunge boys were all about feel. it felt like a huge sledgehammer that came down on those guitarists/bands. some never recovered, some did. but i do believe it took them by suprise. WOW!!!
