Loving my RP1000 and QSC K10. Have a question...
I've always been a tube amp, analog pedals guy but in the past month or so my new RP1000 through my new QSC K10 has become my new rig, replacing my analog pedalboard and Alessandro Rottweiler 1x12.
There's one difficulty I'm having however. The K10 volume knob does not move smoothly. Instead it kind of clicks from level to level. So I can't set it up at an in-between level and there's a big enough jump from level to level that it's a problem on gigs. Also, the knob is on the back and difficult to reach from the front. I want some kind of smooth volume pot to put between the RP1000 and the K10. Something I can put within arm's reach and that has a smooth level control. Will something like an Everman "The Pot" do the trick? Do I need some kind of a small mixer? |

Duh. Maybe it's knob 6 labeled Master Level which the manual says function as such in performance mode. I was confused by the "modes" described in the manual. They do define preset and pedalboard mode, but not performance mode. I guess performance mode is just when you're not in edit mode, right?
I'll try that tonight. Thanks fr8 trane. |

No need to check your manual, just turn the rightmost pot (encoder) when you are not editing any of the effects.

You guys are right. Should be obvious, huh? Adjust the button labeled Master Level. Works perfectly.
Thanks for the help. -Dennis p.s. I sure do love this RP1000/K10 combination. I have no POD HD envy. |

Just be careful with the volume coz I think the "Master Level" setting is NOT saved.
Everytime you power the unit off and on, it defaults back to 20, if I remember correctly. |

Yeah I just realized that. it defaults to 100 (full on) when you power on. Obviously a good thing to remember!

i run a slightly modded rottweiler. . . . and you have me a wee bit curious b/c i dig the effects in the digitech stuff.
what did/does your board look like? i can't imagine going for a modeler after ripping the tones i'm getting. for the record, my 'mods' were swapping tubes . . . . to a set of jj 6v6s to manage the volume and create earlier breakup when i want it. i also had the reverb tank swapped out for a larger 'fendery' - type reverb (now on the floor), and a tweak or two to the reverb circuit itself. i am in love with the clean tones on this thing, especially considering the tone to weight ratio. . . and a dirty little secret brings me all the way into marshall land when i want that (or i just crank the input volume!!!! and bring down the final output control). so tell me more about the rig you replaced. . . . .. and what kind of tones you are going for/getting with the modeler.

I ran my Rottweiller unmodded.
I was using a WOBO ProgLooper to control my effects loops. My effects were: Maxon CP-101 (first in the chain) EQD Tonereaper Fuzz (WOBO loop1) Eventide Modfactor (WOBO loop 2) Menatone Workingmans Blues and Menatone Wreck't (WOBO loop 3 - crunchy rhythm loop) Dan Zink Rinzai (Zendrive-type pedal), Pfeiffer Leveler and Boss DD-6 (WOBO loop 4 - Lead loop) EB Volume Fulltone Clyde Wah Of course there were frequent changes, mostly in the crunchy rhythm loop. I had a Timmy in place of the Workingmans Blue for a while. I had two Wreck'ts and the WMB for a while. I ran a WMB - TBIAC - Wreck't as well. (As you can see I've been really digging the Menatone stuff over the past couple of years). Since I play in a cover band doing everything from classic rock to motown to funk to disco I really need good clean sounds. The RP1000 has great clean amp models. The main two I use are the Twin Reverb and the Matchless HC30. But others are also excellent (JTM45, Deluxe Reverb, etc.). I tend to run all the master volume on the amp models on 10 (kinda like using non-MV amps). I also get real nice breaking up sounds by turning the preamp levels up a bit. So far my favorites for this are the Deluxe Reverb and the '68 Plexi. But again, many other models sound great used in this fashion too. I mostly play clean (both HB and SC), sometimes with slight breakup and sometimes with classic rock crunch (Stones, Bad Co., BTO, ZZ Top, etc.). With the modeler I also can get (or hope to get) some very specific sounds for songs like With or Without You, Sultans of Swing, Black Magic Woman (back when Carlos played much cleaner than he does now), etc. I am still using the Zink Rinzai in the effects loop as a fallback lead option because I haven't yet really found a good emulation of that. But hey, if I need to keep using it that way, no problem - that's why the RP10000 has an effects loop. I'm also gigging with a Wreck't in the loop but I really haven't needed to use it. I and my bandmates have been very happy with the sounds I'm getting. Since I've been running this way the past month or so we've played two gigs on stages at local county fairs with good, very professional soundmen. Both of them have been very complimentary of my tone. As a caveat I'll add that part of how I got here was downsizing my equipment as I get older and have more back problems and less time (I'm 52 with a 6 yr old and 7 yr old son at home). |

Clean amps sound amazing. Hard to get a decent high-gain amp to sound realistic through the 4CM & a tube amp. YMMV
