Rockman Chorus Delay
I have a friend who has one of these (inherited it from a family member), and he doesn't use it. I thought it was pretty cool, and I might buy it from him, but I have no idea what it is worth, I saw one ended on eBay for $135, but I don't know if that's typical. Has anyone else used one of these? They are actually pretty cool. Any help is appreciated!

I have the Chorus/Delay and Chorus units. Probably my favorite sounding chorus and SR&D built them to last a long time. I've seen them go typically between $75 to $150 depending on the condition but I haven't checked out any Rockman gear for about a year. I actually paid around $150 for the used Chorus unit I bought off eBay but it was mint and one of the very last ones built. SR&D was known for upgrading the Rockman units on a continuing basis so the later units incorporated all the mods/revisions that had been made over the years. This makes them more desirable IMO than the earlier units.

This one says it was made in 1986, so is that an earlier or later one?

Right in the middle because they only made those for 3 years: 1985-87. I don't think the Chorus/Delay had any revisions. The Chorus was made from '87-'94 and it had several revisions. I have the Chorus/Delay in my rack and it sounds great. Even better with the Sustainor running before it. |

The visible technical spec differences are that the Chorus/Delay Drive Level goes from -6 to +10 whereas the Chorus goes from -6 to +6. The Preamp headroom indicators go from 0 to 30 dB on the Chorus/Delay and 0 to 18 dB on the Chorus. Not sure if these differences are because of the Delay side or they found out the new specs worked better. The Chorus unit also has a footswitchable "Sweep" input on the back that is supposed to give you a stereo effect without the chorus effect and a footswitchable input that can select between the short and long chorus. |

Stupid question but can you run the delay and chorus at the same time and if so how?

I used to run a Marshall Gov'nor pedal into a Rockman Sustainer with the chorus/delay in the loop of a late 80's mstr vol JCM 800...lordy, it was memorable, so linear but still molten.

No. It's either Chorus or Delay, you can't run both at the same time.
