Just played the Marshall Class 5 at GC today, it rocked!

Was in GC (Matthews, NC) with my son this afternoon and saw that they had 2 Class 5s (a creme one and a black one). I got one of the PRS Custom 24 SE (25th Anniversary edition) and played through it. At first I had the volume pretty low on the amp, meh... Then I dimed all the controls on the amp, and lowered the guitar volume to about 2. WOW! ti sounded really good. Had a lot of snap and punch. Increasing the volume on the guitar would let me get some nice sustaining feedback. I did hear a little rattle but only at a certain volumes, it seemd to go away when I got above a certain point, but was more noticable when I was at lower volumes. I think one of these amps is in my near future, I willt ake my LP next time I go and play it through the amp.

The PRS guitar, it was one of the yellow ones, looked really good, played good, the plastic birds (I mean pearloid) look really cheap up close and I hate the flat top on the Custom 22/24 SE models. But from 10 feet away it looks awesome! and played and sounded really good through the class 5, I would have no problem gigging this combo (unless I had to do a lot of clean and hard strumming, like long train running or something like that)

I want a purple one! If one comes out I'll buy it instantly! Or maybe I'll just have a custom cab built or something

Curiously, I bought both the PRS and the Class 5 for myself on my birthday. The amp is here and the guitar arrives tomorrow. I think it's absolutely amazing the stuff you can buy nowadays that sounds incredible to me for very little money. This little Marshall amp is a winner in my book anyday.

It'd be cool if it came in head form. There are lots of cabs around that would match.

I'd love to see a schematic for it. Is there one out there?

I doubt you could build one cheaper than you could buy it.

I agree it's a great amp for the money. I'm glad to see Marshall came out with something like this, a back to basics tube amp. No digital this and that, just straight ahead turn it up and play amp. I think Gibson needs to do the same thing. No robot guitars. Back to basics!
